Effective, Lasting Pipe Lining
What is the difference between pipe relining and pipe lining? Lining is a broader term encompassing a range of pipe maintenance and repair techniques. Relining is one of those techniques, and we use it to fix pipelines in a noninvasive manner. Two main approaches to pipe repair and replacement are open trench and trenchless. Digging is more time and labor-intensive and presents many more logistical challenges. For these reasons, we prefer trenchless or noninvasive techniques whenever possible. You may also see pipe relining referred to as cured-in-place pipelining or CIPP. It’s a safe and cost-effective method that fixes your pipes from the inside. Typically, we’ll use a flexible tube made from fiberglass or polyester. A special resin saturates that material, and over time, it hardens to form a new pipe within the original pipe.
The first step in pipe relining is performing a video camera inspection. Our team must determine whether your pipe is suitable for this process. Most damaged pipes are, but compromised pipes that have lost their structure may not be. The next step is cleaning the old pipe, such as hydro-jetting. Our Palm Springs plumbers will then use specialized equipment to insert the tube. Once the tube is in place, we’ll inflate it. The next phase is the curing process, and how long it takes depends on the particular project. It can cure in as little as four hours or take as long as 24 hours. Once the curing is complete, we’ll perform a second camera inspection to ensure the job is done well.
